Poole Rotary Technology Tournament
We’re hugely excited to announce that Coda – Marketing for Industry is supporting science and technology learning in Dorset.
We’ve long wanted to support our area in a way that reflects the industries Coda supports – so sponsoring the 2018 Rotary in Poole Technology Tournament for secondary schools Poole, East Dorset and the Purbecks was bit of a no-brainer. Ironic, that. But It’s something we’re incredibly excited about, as it focuses on some issues that are close to Coda’s fulsome hearts.
The competition encourages teams of young people to put their knowledge of the STEM subjects (that’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) into practice.
STEM subjects are the key competencies that propel the clients we represent. So helping inspire ‘the kids’ to develop their talents and interest in STEM makes total sense for us. They may even end up working for – or starting – the companies that will use Coda’s skills in the future. So maybe we’re future-proofing ourselves here.
The event takes place next Friday at Parkstone Grammar School, and we’re even lucky to have the fantastic and philanthropically minded Matt Desmier – raconteur, flag-waver, and the brains behind the fantastic Silicon Beach – giving a a centrepiece talk on on the creative opportunities learning STEM subject brings. The pupils will certainly benefit from his wisdom, and his fashion sense.
Of course, we’re just the sponsors – the hard work is really being done by the Rotary Clubs of Poole, Poole Bay and Parkstone, who organise and run the event. This is the eighth time they’ve staged this competition, and hopefully our support means this continued to be an annual fixture in the calendar.
We wish every team the best. Go for it!
