We’re fresh back from Frankfurt, where three members of the CODA team attended the world renowned ACHEMA event.

As the largest trade show for the process industry, more than 3,737 exhibitors from 55 countries showcased the latest equipment and innovative processes for the chemical, pharma and food industry across ten halls, so I think we can safely say it was truly a global event. The festival hall venue itself spans 578,000 square metres of floor space split across ten halls – so as a communications partner for three clients attending the show, each member of the CODA team gave our FitBits a good workout by pacing up to 15km a day.

The events three focal topics attracted 170,00 visitors over five days. Under the motto “Flexible Production” numerous exhibitors showed modular solutions and intelligent components for the plant of tomorrow.

Dodging around booths, some easily worth a cool million Euros, ACHEMA’s ‘fair-ground of frivolity’ it brings to life the ubiquitous nature of the process sector across global markets. In communication terms the challenge is to decipher a myriad of geographic and company cultures, across a range of sectors who all carry with them their own jargon.

Much is said at any given conference or event between colleagues, clients and service providers and the usual client takeaway is a meet and greet connective exercise. As Public Relations practitioners, CODA’s PR presence required the translation of a range of conversations into valuable commercial collateral, in essence making them measurable. For Emerson Final Solutions alone we have agreed and made a business case for content with 30 trade publications, conducted 16 Emerson expert interviews and biographies, built an image library, captured and generated live tweets from 14 client lectures. The beauty of this approach is its sustainable nature making the most of our client resource and budgets and at the same time increase their long-term visibility and reputational management – but man, do our feet hurt.

We look forward to the first AchemAsia that takes place from 21-23 May 2019 in Shanghai.
